Men’s Aid Ireland – MENCALLHELP2 secondary analysis study.

Men’s Aid Ireland in conjunction with a research team at Trinity College Dublin led by Dr. Melissa Corbally, are currently undertaking a retrospective evaluation of 2022 call data relating to the Men’s Aid Ireland Helpline to further understand the nature and experience of men’s domestic abuse experiences as well as exploring patterns relating to how men use the service and how call handlers record information.
Full ethical approval for this project has been obtained by the ethics committee in Trinity College Dublin.

This study examines information typed in a ‘free text box’ which will firstly be anonymised from the original call (i.e. provided with a unique number identifier) and then secondly, de-identified (meaning any references names or locations are removed) before being analysed by the research team.

Men’s Aid Ireland treat all their calls with the strictest of confidence and hope that this research will be of assistance in further improving the quality of service to callers and those experiencing domestic abuse.
This study has been funded by the Irish Research Council and is scheduled for completion in December 2024.
